Snapmaker Recognizes U1 Community Firmware and Multimaterial Projects

Snapmaker announced the final 20 winners of its U1 Innovation Fund first phase on October 16, 2026. Recognized projects include extended community firmware, workflows for printing with different nozzle sizes, and modifications that expand filament options beyond the standard four-tool setup.

The awards highlight a growing ecosystem around the U1 toolchanger. Community projects could give experienced owners more control over software, slicing, and material handling, but an award does not make a modification a standard printer feature or establish independently verified performance.

Users should check each project's hardware requirements, installation instructions, and compatibility before adopting it. Snapmaker says the second competition phase opens October 28, with submissions closing December 24, 2026.
